Networking Skills - Business Link for London

Business Networking Skills

Business Link for London provides small and medium sized businesses with a single point of contact for impartial, independent advice and support.

They asked us to come up with a networking skills programme to develop the networking styles of their already highly skilled Business Advisors.

They wanted to increase their potential to generate business leads, by looking at what the pitfalls are, and where you can feel wrong-footed at networking events.

Coming face to face with a room full of strangers can be terrifying - and at the very least daunting!

There are so many hidden dynamics at networking events.

Networking Dynamics

Often, the key to networking success is knowing how to approach someone you don't know, making that first move and being aware of the pitfalls that can trip you up before you even start!

We've been running a series of Networking Skills Workshops with Business Advisors from Business Link for London on just this subject.

They wanted to take a closer look at what they actually do with colleagues and clients at all the networking events they attend throughout the year.

We already know that Business Link Business Advisors are sharp, savvy individuals with excellent communication skills.

However, even with all their experience, they've been able to get a great deal from these workshops, namely that there are vital things you should always take with you in your 'Networking Kit Bag' to keep your profile as high or as low as you need.

They focused on how to get the response they want, and how to give the impression that works best for them.

We looked at what might be the best thing to wear and just how to eat from that buffet and get a business card at the same time!

A lot of what we do focused on how to say the most appropriate thing to get into - and out of each and every situation!
