Five Day Transformational Retreat in Tuscany
Join us for a five day transformational retreat in the stunning Tuscan hills exploring how we can use 'creative thinking' for anyone who would like to re-think the way they currently live and work.
Five Day Transformational Retreat in Tuscany
What ifLife was less about discovering yourself? And more about creating yourself?
That's
an odd question, isn't it? But with todays ever more hectic pace and the
pressures most people are under, they don't usually take time to think about who
and how they want to be both in work and in the rest of their lives.
Impact Factory's 'creativity team' have been working for quite a while in the area of Creativity and Innovation, running programmes for companies as diverse as Reckitt Benckiser, DHL, Southampton City Council and Balfour Beattie, as well as running our highly successful Creativity and Innovation Open Course.
We are now offering a five day transformational retreat in the stunning Tuscan hills exploring how we can use 'creative thinking' for anyone who would like to re-think the way they currently live and work.
The 5 windows of Creative Realisation
Here are just a few of the questions we will explore together when you join our retreat:- Who are you and 'how' are you creative? At work and in life?
- What do we need to discover about ourselves and what do we need to create?
What is creativity? And why is it important now?
What does it mean to genuinely 'realise' something?
What's your work/life story? And is it the one you wanted to write?
Take in the far reaching views of the Italian Serchio Valley
Take
some time for yourself and come and join us for 5 relaxing days of personal
discovery and realisation, away from your daily routine. You can relax, enjoy
the Italian weather, sample the local wine and fantastic cuisine, and of course,
explore your creativity and personal goals. Maybe you'll realise it's time for a change or maybe you'll simply realise things are just fine as they are. Either way our expert facilitators will help and guide you through an experience you may remember and benefit from, for the rest of your life.
Using many of the tools and techniques from our highly successful 'Creativity and Innovation programmes' we will focus on these two key questions:
1. 'How can you 'innovate' one of the most ancient yet complex organisations on the planet yourself?'
- In other words how can you personally 'realise' your full potential and prepare yourself to succeed in an uncertain and ever evolving future?
2. What skills and qualities do you need to develop to face the new challenges in life and work in the 21st Century?
Crisis or Evolution?
We are
witnessing an extraordinary time. With the global economic crisis ever
deepening, many people are frightened and uncertain just how to cope they are
thinking about survival, rather than looking at how to thrive. Yet there are
many who believe we are probably entering the most exciting and potentially
creative time the Western world has known since the renaissance. The ability to think creatively is fast becoming the new 'must have' skill. With many people losing their jobs some are taking the opportunity to re-skill and even to re-think what they want to do and who they want to become in the future.
It seems that recovering from this crisis will be as much, if not more, to do with creatively exploring our values, ideas and beliefs about what is important to us in life and work as it is about just re-building businesses.
Our take on the current crisis is "...let's get creative in order to improve our lives" rather than wishing it would all go back the way it was.
To help people approach their whole lives in a more innovative (and indeed transformational way) we have crafted a five day programme and the following schedule will give you an idea of what we'll be doing each day!
Day 1: The Reality - Facts of our lives and Re-organising to Innovate
Sometimes the gap between our expectations and the day to day reality we experience can create confusion and even conflict. On the first day we get to grips with our reality. What is it? Where are we now? What are the facts of our situation? The facilitators will work with you using interactive and experiential processes to explore illusions and assumptions to reveal the heart of your current reality.
We'll then look at what we might be able to achieve simply by taking what we have and do now, both personally and professionally (and in particular what works) and moving everything around to create different configurations. This will require that we try not to remove or add anything more but rather stay with what we currently have and do. This will include exploring how we live, work and play, manage time and prioritise.
Day 2: Creative Improvisation
What
ifeverything you believe about yourself and the world is wrong? What would you
do if you had your memory wiped and had to start again with a blank sheet? And
who is it that would be starting again anyway? Here's where the fun really begins. Using leading-edge brainstorming techniques we look at the benefits of starting completely afresh and recreating ourselves, with no restrictions, no rules, full autonomy, permission to fail and no expectations. We will draw on the fields of creativity research, science, drama, improvisation skills, psychology and maybe even some haute cuisine, as we work through the session with a mix of discussion, processes and interactive experiences to 'fill a blank canvass'.
Day 3: Meaning Making and Creative Realisation
- What's the point of anything? Can a meaningless existence actually be a good
thing?
Drawing on the disciplines of quantum physics, evolution, storytelling
and the structure of narrative (as outlined by Joseph Campbell in The Hero with a 1000 faces) we'll explore archetypes, meaning
and... what it all means.

What's the meaning of 'Creative Realisation'?
Looking at 'realisation' as an experience that can be both discovery and creativity.Day 4: Deconstructing - The Paradox Principle
During this session we look at the thinking and behaviour of the maverick. Sometimes the rebels in society become the catalyst for positive change. Nelson Mandela, Che Guevara, Emmeline Pankhurst. But what are the real benefits and disadvantages of behaving like a Maverick or contrarian? Can we trust ourselves to take that position once in a while? What would happen if you took on that role?Day 5: Bringing it all together
We will unpack the experience of the five days, bringing together the
learning and applying it to the everyday. Delegates will make a 21 day
commitment to 'creatively realise' at least three aspects of themselves, their
life and/or work. The days will be scheduled to include two sessions (morning
and afternoon). There will also be at least two evening events during the five
days.
And time for sightseeing and sunbathing for those who are so
inclined!
