Managing Change During Uncertainty

Managing Change During Uncertainty

The upturn is on its way; the upturn has been postponed; the upturn isn't going to happen till the end of 2014; what's an upturn?

We're in a recession; we're climbing out of recession; everyone else is out of recession but Britain: Oh no!! It's a double dip!!; stop using the R word!

Depending upon the pundit you listen to any of the above might be true.

What we do know, however, is that these are uncertain times; times of volatility, times of inconsistency.

What is happening now is that many companies simply don't look like they did even a few months ago: they have been merged, acquired, reinvented, reborn. Redundancies have been made, staff shuffled and reconfigured, management structures reorganised.

And in many companies where this hasn't yet happened all this is about to happen, or will happen within the next six months.

All of this restructuring may be spot on for survival purposes, but can wreak havoc on productivity, morale and growth.

In our experience many companies emerging from all this turmoil expect everyone to just get on with things, buckle down and carry on within the new framework.

Nice idea, but it usually doesn't work all that well.

Survivors need looking after too because they have been through upheaval and there could still be a feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Helping to Manage Change

Impact Factory has an excellent track record of working with companies to help them Manage Change, especially during uncertain times. With cost reductions, squeezes on resources, higher workloads and increased stress levels, it can be really hard to manage expectations and achieve high performance.

Here are some of the things you can expect us to address when working with change:

Have You Undergone Change During the Past Year?

If your organisation has undergone change this past year or you anticipate major changes in the months ahead, looking after your people may be the single most important action you take to ensure success.

For instance, this year we began working with a large multi-national financial organisation that had just been acquired by another large multi-national financial organisation. What people were juggling were feelings of high anxiety and uncertainty coupled with exceptional professionalism and a desire to make things work.

Over the past few months we have run a series of Presentation, Line Management, Personal Impact, Stress Management, and Executive Coaching programmes to help people manage the changes. From analysts to senior managers, we have supported this newly structured organisation through upheaval and adjustment.

We have a wide range of formats to choose from to suit any support need you may have.
