Secondly he plays drums...loud and long... and last but not least he has three children all under 10... which is why he enjoys golf and plays drums long and loud.

There's a model for influencing others based on work by Robert Cialdini, an Italian expert on such things.

Its acronym is RASCAL and the last letter. L, is the most important of them all so I won't waste your time on the others.

L Stands for liking

So the most important influencing skill you should develop is to get others to like you.
