General Coaching Experience and Background
"Graham – you are a natural coach", said one of my colleagues, doing her coaching best to boost me ahead of writing my executive coaching biography. And of course, when I consider the matter calmly and rationally, I realise that I am.In a previous biog for this website I have written "I love helping people to develop themselves through my work at Impact Factory" – and that sums it up. You will find me a sensitive and empathetic navigator of the stormy waters of self-limiting beliefs, self-consciousness, and all that 'head stuff' and many other factors which can combine to undermine one's ability to perform and make the impact we desire.
One thing you will often hear me say to people is: "it may be a product of my 1970s woolly liberal teacher-training tradition, but I personally believe that the most profound learning can happen in a spirit of fun". Sessions spent in my company are often accompanied by laughter – usually for the best reasons. However I do not shy away from challenging my clients when appropriate, and helping them to gain profound insight as well as re-configuring their perception of attainable goals.
Specific Coaching Experience and Background
Over 30 years I have been an acting and improvisation coach, as well as a theatre director. For 9 years I worked with Globe Education at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, leading workshops for all ages and giving public talks.In the last 10 years I have been a facilitator and executive coach for numerous clients at Impact Factory. I was instrumental in developing the Train the Trainer Open Course, and also run Leadership Development, Facilitation and Coaching and Mentoring programmes.
Many individuals, from both Private and Public sectors, have received Presentation and Personal Impact coaching from me, including vital help with upcoming big presentations and meetings. One of my executive coaching clients achieved Sales Director in 8 months – with a little help from my colleagues on Open Courses too. Another is now the Chief Executive of a Local Authority.
