General Coaching Experience and Background

I have over twenty years management experience in a scientific business environment and am now a Senior Partner at Impact Factory where I specialise in Leadership, Management, Strategic Thinking and Personal Impact.

I began my career as an Electronics Engineer before moving into IT research, project delivery and management. I led teams of up to twenty people at all levels from school leavers to professors. I believe very much in empowering others to deliver while offering support and encouragement as needed.

In 1997 I became Head of Marketing & Strategic Planning at the National Physical Laboratory where I led the business development activities during the transition from Public to Private Sector management. I achieved challenging growth targets and led several change initiatives to update business practices.

Specific Coaching Experience

I have over twenty years experience of coaching and mentoring – both formally and informally – and seven years as a coach.

I have experience in both executive coaching and life coaching, dealing with issues such as self-belief, focus, putting things off, managing difficult relationships, deciding on a future path, assertiveness, bullying and general self-awareness.

My coaching clients range from teenagers to top business executives.

Coaching Qualifications

I have a degree in Maths and I'm a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). I am a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and a NLP Certified Coach.

My Approach as an Executive Coach

I have a real passion for developing people and helping them to see what they already have going for them as a means of strengthening their future potential.

I bring a strong, analytical approach (that's the Maths!) combined with a warm and bubbly personal style. I like to listen carefully to what is going on with a coaching client before offering a reflection of what I have heard.

I'm good at seeing and bringing out the important things, through the general mass of other stuff that is going on for a client. I challenge at times but I'm always supportive.

I like to look at the whole person, not just the work persona, so that clients are able to understand themselves better and so define, and move towards, their goals more effectively.
