Where to Guvnor?

Engaging your people

Even in the best of times, your ability to continuously engage and re-engage others is key to the smooth functioning of your team, organisation or even population, whether you have 10, 100 or 100,000 employees... or millions of citizens

The larger your 'organisation' becomes, by necessity, its lines of communication get stretched... sometimes to breaking point. Your need to keep a finger on the pulse of business, of innovation, of consensus or the bottom line is obvious, but keeping connected to the heart of your people is vital.

The importance of that connection can sometimes be relegated, because people, unlike fixed systems and processes, can be more difficult and emotional to control, becoming disengaged, unpredictable, and in worst case scenarios, begin to work against you.

For most professional people, the ability to communicate effectively amounts to the belief that others are able to understand what they say, and that they're able to deliver a presentation without sending the audience to sleep. If that's your aim, then we've several other brilliantly interactive and satisfying workshops you can attend for less time and a lot less investment.

The London Experience

Engaging Communication, 'The London Experience' has been created to begin addressing the needs of those who realise that engagement is more than simply communicating information. If you've done room-based, Power-Pointed communications training 'to death' and are now looking for the next level of personal and professional 'development', then the 'London Experience' is for you .

Join us for five days and discover how to develop engaging communication skills in the most engaging capital city in the world. We will work with you in some of the most iconic locations and intriguing environments in London, as we deliver probably the best experiential development in communication skills currently available anywhere.

The challenges of climbing mountains and white water rafting are all very well and have a place in learning and development... but not with us. Our take on development is more about those internal psychological and emotional barriers which prevent us from being all we might be.

You will certainly be asked to attempt activities outside you normal experience, they may be emotionally or physically difficult and you may want to avoid them... that will be your choice...

You will be exposed to Challenging Experiences

The London Experience exposes you to experiences, which although challenging, are designed to promote a shift in your perception of who you are and how you might increase your ability to engage others in the future.

If you want to go beyond the accepted norms of 'training', if you want to begin to explore, your absolute potential to not only 'create' yourself, but also to guide others as an inspirational, highly motivated and passionate communicator, our view is that discovering the truth about who you are in the world, and what you might bring to the table, is key.

'Engaging Communication' metaphorically throws you to the lions, by exposing you to a series of no risk, no reward 'personal' challenges in the real world in real time, with the smallest of safety nets.

You can take the first steps to discovering new aspects of yourself by joining the 'London Experience' journey with us. This journey is a catalyst for transformational change and as such, is not to be entered lightly or with scepticism youre either in for the ride or out. Talking of rides, the group will chauffeured between venues in dedicated London black cabs.

If you've decided to take a serious look at yourself in relation to who you are and how you are presently, and, in the final analysis, who and how you want to be in the future, Engaging Communication, 'The London Experience' is for you.

Day 2:  AM: Animal Magic PM: Engaging Voices

Breakfast and overnight thoughts and outline for the day

To finalise our work with you on non verbal engagement... Why are some animals more engaging to humans than others?

We'll begin the day at London Zoo, exploring the relationship between animal physicality and engagement. In pairs you'll observe the physicality of two animals. Each partner should identify the animal whose physicality, they feel matches their partner's. The other animal should be your individual choice and represent the quality most engaging to you. The challenge for each person is to study both animals and embody their physicality, recreating both separately in a piece of group work to be videoed.

The human greeting ritual has its roots in our ancient survival instincts.
In the moment an animal spots another there is an instinctive split second decision to be made by both parties... fight or flight.

What is the purpose of the ability to engage? Why do we need it? To appreciate this we need to understand the evolutionary development of that first moment of contact. Over millions of years animals have developed an instinct, essential for survival. In humans this instinct has evolved into the greeting ritual.

Without the ability to recognise a potential mate or a potential predator no animal would last long.

An animal's instinct is activated the nano-second it spots another creature and the information gathered allows each to make the decision which will ensure survival or death. The stakes may not be so high for humans in everyday life; however, the instinct of flight or fight still persists and has to be dealt with, which is why we need "our rules of engagement".
