Dannie Carr – Creativity, Communication and Assertiveness

Creativity, Communication and Assertiveness

I live a pretty creative life and have an extensive background of work in performance as an actor, director, writer, voiceover artist and acting facilitator. I've also managed to squeeze a pretty extensive background in business and education into my life. I am wholeheartedly committed to and passionate about a creative and dynamic approach for all levels of personal and professional development.

My first real sense of business began at the tender age of 15 when I helped run our family's butcher business and was involved from everything from customer service and management to cleaning and tea making duties.

That determination and drive carried its way straight into theatre and TV for me when I began my acting career while still in my teens, working with many local theatre companies. This led to a degree in Performing Arts from Sheffield University and a Post Grad Diploma at Drama School in London.

My work as an actor has included theatre roles from Shakespeare to Brecht and my TV and Radio work has often ended up in the sci-fi world, including the featured role of Morli in two audio series of the Doctor Who spin off, Dalek Wars. My voice can sometimes be heard on TV and radio adverts and trailers. I love and am intrigued by how we all relate to and use our voices and I often use my voiceover experience as a springboard from which to coach other people through a range of issues.

My previous work as a college lecturer and outreach worker often used theatre and performance to aid both confidence and communication for young people. My business roles have included copy editing, marketing and events co-ordinating. One of my freelance events involved writing a theatrical piece from scratch for HMS Belfast, recruiting, rehearsing, directing and performing it and organising everything from Health and Safety to managing the whole team involved! Then I had to go on London radio and tell stories about pirate ghosts to promote it!

I am a pretty committed runner (though I definitely have my lazy spells). I have completed the Great North Run several times and more recently conquered the London Marathon. I am a keen gardener and love spending time nurturing my flowers and vegetable patch. Or writing, paying particular attention to my long-developing film script which I really hope to direct too. Or playing my guitar and singing with my band. Or doing yoga and meditating.

Im a proper people person. Life at Impact Factory suits me down to the ground because of that. My work here also allows me to work with others figuring out the whys and wherefores of the things life can throw at us and what we can do about them by making small shifts for ourselves.

My real passion lies in delivering Communication, Customer Service, Personal Impact, Influencing, Stress Management, Time Management, Change Management, Public Speaking, Presentation, Conflict Management and Creativity Open Courses.

I love the Creativity and Innovation work here at Impact Factory and I'm proud to be part of the Creativity and Innovation team.

Clients I have worked with at Impact Factory include Somerfields, Warburtons, ED & F Man, ACCA, NHS, Burger King, NYK Logistics and a ground-breaking Leadership programme for Muslim Women.
