The ability to not take a complaint personally even when it was your fault is key to keeping a cool head under fire.

Here's an image to help you do just that.

Just metaphorically hold your hand out in front of you between you and the complaining customer as if you were holding the complaint in the palm of your hand. The problem then sits between the two of you.

In this way you can distance yourself personally from the 'attack' and hold a sense of the issue or challenge sitting between you both.
