Doug Osborne – Assertiveness and Conflict ManagementThis process of personal alchemy moved via a successful career as a DJ and record producer, through fitness training, shamanic practice and a parallel stream of deep and abiding fascination with the natural world, herbal medicine and states of trance. The strands sometimes seemed in conflict with each other over the years but he is now reaching that great stage of life when they all start to tie up, work together and blend wonderfully.Let's start at the beginning: his first career as a Radio chemist held his attention through his early twenties but proved no match for the enticements offered by a new light from the New York underground dance clubs. Following that light allowed him to live out many dreams in the music business over fifteen years. That produced one healthy discography (including music produced for Grandstand (BBC), The Bill (ITV) and club mix sequences for regional and national radio), two record companies, a publishing company and finally an affiliation with Universal Music that reaped a string of top tens – including a gold and silver disc and a UK number one single (phew!). Those years were fast, exciting and made for youth. As time passed, and he evolved, he decided to stand still for a while and take stock. Gradually his focus turned inwards: embracing Psychology, herbalism and shamanic practice - an old world form of psychology and hypnotherapy using lots of instruments: there’s that music again. His interest in drumming, trance states and their effect on the human unconscious mind led to his training in clinical hypnotherapy. Now he is able to bring this wealth of understanding of how our internal world relates to the external world into the arena of communication, leadership and facilitation training. His passion is to see people develop a sense of real wellbeing at work and thrive within the business environment. Doug has been very active working on many of our Open Courses, but has also worked with the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Science Research Council), Aberdeen City Council, Ticketmaster, Merrill Lynch and Central Networks. His specialist areas include assertiveness, personal impact, conflict management and networking. Doug is also developing an open course on Stress management for Impact Factory.
