Performance Management and Appraisals
Appraisals can be a terrific forum for review, development and communication; or they can be a 'tick the box' exercise that is relatively meaningless.
Whether you're an 'appraisee' or an 'appraiser', the process can promise untold change, feedback or simply a pay rise. Often, the effects of performance management wear off as soon as the meeting is over and nothing is followed through.
It's making sure that each appraisal has value that is the crucial part of the process. With commitment from both sides, then things really can change for the better!
