Bury in Bloom!

Jo Ellen goes for Gold. No, not the Olympics- she's way too old for that (or will be by then). The gold she's talking about is helping Bury St Edmunds look its sparkling best when it comes to being the best floral town in East Anglia in 2006. So when she isn't busy giving words of wisdom to her colleagues at Impact Factory, she can be found encouraging individuals, school children and businesses in Bury to be part of the mix in 2006.

Inspired by the BBC's Make Room for Nature in 2004 and Make Space for Nature in 2005, she's also launched a Pledge Scheme to get as many people as possible to pledge to do something - anything! - to contribute to making Bury a better place to be. This is something she hopes all the In Blooms will pick up and run with.

This year in particular, she's giving people lots of advice on Water Conservation in light of a forecasted drought. So what's Jo Ellen pledged to do? Let's see: plant a tree, plant more indiginous wildflowers in her garden, get another water butt, attend a hanging basket workshop at Nowton Park, a nursery staffed by youngsters with severe learning disabilities (who plant up all the glorious hanging baskets in town). That'll keep her busy when she isn't down the allotment!
